Find Your Wi-Fi Password (iOS, Mac, Windows)

Wi-Fi passwords are often not so easy to remember, the best way to keep them is saving in Notes on your iPhone, Mac or Notepad in Windows PC. However, if you have already forgotten your saved Wi-Fi passwords, you can get them from your Windows PC, Mac OS X or iPhone. Finding the Wi-Fi on previous version of windows XP and 7 is pretty much easy but for the latest versions such as Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 10, you will have to go deep in the settings to reveal it. The method explain below will work on all version of windows. It is very difficult to find Wi-Fi passwords on iOS devices, as Wi-Fi passwords are secured deep in the files which are not accessible from settings or third party application. However, if you have jailbroken your iOS device, you can easily find them using a simple tweak from Cydia tweak. Here’s the step by step guide to find your Wi-Fi Password on iOS, Windows and Mac devices.


  1. Find Your Wi-Fi Password on iOS:




First of all, you will need to have a Jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to find the Wi-Fi password and this method will not work on normal devices.

Go the Cydia Store from your iPhone. Click on search and write down “WiFi Passwords”.


Click on the first application and now click on the “Install” button in the top right corner.


After finishing the installing process, you will see a new application on your Home screen by the name of “WiFi Passwords”


Click on it and here you will find all your Wi-Fi networks and passwords on those networks. The Main title shows the name of Wi-Fi and little text below it is the password of your Wi-Fi.


You can click on the “Arrow” button to save it to the notes for future purposes.


  1. Finding Wi-Fi Password on Windows:




As explained above, Windows have embedded the Wi-Fi settings deep in the network options. This will only reveal passwords of the Wi-Fi device connected.

Right click on the Wi-Fi icon on the right side of your screen and click on “Open Sharing Network”


Now, click on “Change Adapter settings” in the left panel of windows. It will open all the network connections of your computer.


Right Click on the Wireless connect and select “Status”


Now, Click on the “Wireless Properties” button as shown in the screenshot below.


In the new window, Click on “Security”


Now, check the “Show Characters” to reveal the Wi-Fi password of your network. You can copy it and save in the notepad or sticky notes on your computer.



  1. Finding Wi-Fi Password on Mac:




Just like latest versions of Windows, Wi-Fi passwords on Mac are not located right in the settings, you will have to dig a little deep to reveal the Wi-Fi password on your Mac. You will need to have the access to the administrator account on Mac and the name of Wi-Fi to reveal the password. Here’s how you can do that:

Go to Spotlight on your Mac and search for the “Keychain Access” it will show the list of all the Wi-Fi networks on your Mac.

You can either select for your network or search it using the search bar in the top right corner.

Double Click on the Wi-Fi for which you want to get the password.

Check the box next to “Show Password” to reveal the password of your Wi-Fi, it may also require the Username and the password of Administrator account on the Mac.
