Get Rid of Bags under Your Eyes
Bags and puffiness below the eyes result from the presence of too many fluids in your body, intake of excess salt and lack of enough sleep. These bags make you look old and tired, so they have to be addressed at the earliest.Below are some ways to get rid of bags under your eyes:
Method #1: Cold Compress and tea bags
One well-known method to get rid of bags under your eyes is to begin by tapping the bags to move all the accumulated fluids away from it. After tapping gently for a few minutes, take a cold compress and place it on your eyes. This cold compress can even be as simple as putting ice cubes put inside a bag. Place this cold compress for about 15 minutes and close your eyes. Next, take two bags of tea, preferably black or white, and soak it in cold water for about two minutes. Remove the bags and squeeze excess moisture out of it and put these bags over each eye for ten to 15 minutes. The substance tannin found in these bags help to reduce the puffiness below your eyes.
If you don't have tea bags on hand, place a slice of cucumber in each eye to reduce the puffiness. Just ensure that they are chilled in the refrigerator for a few minutes, so that it is cold when you want to put it on your eyes.
Method #2: Watch Your Diet
Puffiness below the eyes is mostly caused by the presence of excess salt in your system. If you consumed a salty dinner or cried too much, then it can lead to salt accumulation. To remove this salt, drink plenty of water so it gets flushed out of your system. It is best to drink plain water and avoid drinks that dehydrate you such as tea and coffee.
Method #3: Change your Lifestyle
While the above solutions can give you a short-term fix for the problem, you have to make certain changes to your lifestyle if you want to get rid of bags under your eyes permanently. For this, make sure you get good six to seven hours of sleep everyday and avoid excessively salty foods or those high in sodium. In general, processed foods tend to be high in sodium, so opt for freshly cooked food with lots of fruits, vegetables and protein.
