Make Basic Lasagna

There are many important aspects to sharing a meal together such as building community, friendship, and common bonds as well as eating some wonderful food. Eating lasagna is a great way to accomplish these goals and so much more. There are many ways to make this dish, but this article will discuss one of the simplest ways to create this delicious meal.

Gather the Ingredients

The first step to making any food is to read the recipe and gather what you need. When figuring out how to make lasagna, there are several ingredients you’ll need. For the tomato meat sauce, you’ll need two 28 ounce cans of tomatoes (preferably crushed or whole) and lots of meat. This recipe calls for a pound of ground beef (lean is best) and a pound of Italian sausage, whatever level of spice you prefer. A large onion and at least two cloves of garlic are also necessary. Finally, some extra ingredients and spices help make the meat sauce extra delicious: use one or two tablespoons of tomato paste, dried oregano, Italian seasoning, fresh or dried basil, olive oil, and salt and pepper.

You’ll also need some ingredients for the rest of the lasagna. There aren’t too many other ones you’ll need beside a package of noodles (around a pound in weight is a good target to shoot for). This basic lasagna also calls for one pound of mozzarella cheese, half a pound of parmesan, a pound of ricotta cheese, one egg, and some dried oregano plus basil.

Prepare your Feast!

Once you’ve gathered all of the necessary ingredients, you are now ready to start creating something wonderful. You’ll need a few pieces of cooking equipment to begin: a large pan to make the sauce in, a 13x9 baking dish (glass is recommended), and a large pot for boiling the pasta if the noodles aren’t oven-ready.

Dice the onion, mince the garlic, and throw them in a pan after covering it olive oil. The beef and sausage should also be cooked at this point over medium heat until brown. Add in your seasoning to the sauce pan after the onions become soft. Dump in both cans of tomatoes and bring your sauce to a light boil. Let it simmer for half an hour while doing the rest of your prep work. Cook your noodles (if not oven-ready) for a minute or two, then rinse them off in a colander. Save a couple handfuls of parmesan and mozzarella for your topping. Put the ricotta and egg into a large bowl. Add the rest of your cheese with the Italian seasoning, as well. You may double check the sauce and add flavors as needed. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly cover the bottom of your pan with sauce, then put one layer of noodles and a third of your cheese mixture on top. Repeat this basic build three times. For the fourth and final layer, sprinkle the parmesan and mozzarella on top. Bake for forty minutes and pull out when the top starts to get dark. Pull it out, let it cool, and enjoy!
