Set the Android Browser Homepage
Android is an open source mobile operating system that comes preinstalled on different smartphones by hundreds of hardware manufacturers around the globe. Some of them use the stock Google Settings while other will custom the OS and install new software such as Samsung, HTC, LG or Huawei. The most common web browsers on the Android OS is the Google Chrome and native internet browser. Google Chromes pre-installed in the newer devices, however, previous versions of Android have the different internet browser. Setting the Homepage in the native internet browser is pretty easy and straight forward. However, it may get difficult for other browsers such as Google Chrome. One of the biggest reason is that Chrome doesn’t provide any option to set the Homepage. However, you can save a link on the Home screen of your Android and can later use it as your Homepage. Here’s the step by step guide to utilize both methods.
- Setting Homepage of Android Browser on Samsung, HTC, and LG:
Go to the Web browser and open the page that you want to set as Home screen on your Android Device.
Click on more and select Settings given at the bottom of these options.
Click on the first option which is Homepage
You will find many options here; you can select the Current page to set the recently opened page as Home screen on your Android device. However, you can also set the quick access menu.
That’s it! You have successfully set the homepage on Android browser. This method will work on most of the Android devices. However, many users prefer to use an alternative web browser such as Google Chrome on Android device.
- Setting Homepage of Google Chrome in Android:
Natively, Google Chrome doesn’t allow you to set a homepage on Android device. However, you can add a page on the Home screen directly on the screen. So, whenever, you will click on that icon, Google Chrome will be opened, and the first page that you will see will be of that particular website. The best part about using this method is that you can add as many websites as you want on the Home screen of your Android Phone. Here’s how to add a link on the Home screen.
Open Google Chrome on your Android device and navigate to the page that you want to add to the Home screen.
Once the page is opened, click on the three dots right next to the web link and select Add to Home screen
A new dialogue will be opened, write down the name of the icon and click on OK
That’s it! When you click the OK button, you will see a new icon on the home screen of your phone.
You can tap on this icon anytime to open it directly in the Google Chrome.
